Tuesday, January 5, 2010, 11:43am MST Lumension, Shavlik Technologies settle patent dispute Phoenix Business Journal Lumension Security Inc. and Shavlik Technologies LLC have settled a patent dispute regarding patching security holes in networked computer systems. The settlement between Scottsdale-based Lumension and Roseville, Minn.-based Shavlik centered on which company had rights to the patent that both filed. Both asked for a re-examination by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which found that 50 of the claims made by Lumension were patentable. Both companies have agreed to continue marketing their products, and details of the settlement weren’t disclosed. “We are pleased by the PTO’s conclusions regarding the patentability of our core patching technology, and ultimately satisfied with the results of our settlement with Shavlik,” said Pat Clawson, chairman and CEO of Lumension.
