April 20 - 21, 2015 Oral presentation and final evaluation
  • Ten finalists presented their projects to the evaluation panel
  • Evaluation panel discussion and assessment followed and the 3 best projects were selected as winners

  • Final workshop was a half-day workshop by KIPO, WIPO and ONAPI, followed by an award ceremony
  • Final workshop was organized with a focus on developing and commercializing appropriate technology projects
Participation statistics: The competition was open to nationals and/or permanent residents of the Dominican Republic.
A public notice stated that the following groups were encouraged to participate:
  • Students
  • Researchers
  • Inventors
Participation was either individual or in groups. 10 finalists were chosen after the initial evaluation.
Submission categories:
Of the 83 projects submitted, only 31 met the requirements for submission. 52 projects were not evaluated either due to a submission document with insufficient description or overall lack of relevance to the agricultural sector. The evaluated projects fell into 4 categories: industry, machinery, electricity and others. The thers category was further subdivided into: pesticide, fertilizers, pollination and water supply.

Evaluation criteria:
The same evaluation criteria were used for the initial and final evaluations. The finalists and winners were selected according to the average scores given by the judges. Yet, for the final evaluation, single scores were given under each of the 4 evaluation criteria, where as for the initial evaluation, detailed sub-questions and scores were given under each of the 4 evaluation criteria.
